I have to admit to being overwhelmed by the possibilities after hearing Joyce today. Where to even start. As Curriculum Coordinator, one of my goals is to improve methods of communication in the district library system. I can see using a combination of a wiki style web-page and a blog to help make that happen. My plan is to start small and work up because I can be beta and still be successful :-) I am really intrigued by the voicethread site as well. That ability to tell our stories in an interactive way is part of communication and I am thinking of ways to use it with the librarians and thereby model its use for administration and teachers and students. It could be a really cool way to do a library orientation for those who miss the live orientation for some reason. HMMMMM> I need to explore that as well.
I'm pretty overwhelmed myself. I'm excited to try some of these new tools and am glad that we have you to give us a forum here in ASD to pracitce some of these fun things.
I think that the possibilities for training and collaboration are so rich here that I am not sure where to start. I will be calling on those of us from ASD who took the class to help me formulate how to best make sure that we get this out and more importantly that we model it for all our stakeholders.
Hi Joyce. Is there a site or a book that you would recommend for the complete Wiki novice? Having started playing with one today, I can see that not knowing how to do what I want, not knowing what questions to ask the HELP site, and being frustrated by that is going to be a block for me in doing this.
Thanks
I am thrilled at all the possibilities! Joyce's presentation was was packed with all kinds of interactive tools that will keep me thinking for the rest of the year. I have plans for replacing my library home page with a wiki and creating pathfinders with a wiki. Already I am thinking of specific teachers I would like to share certain technologies with. Flicker has great potential for enjoyable learning communities as well as voice threading.
Wikis and blogs and nings, oh my! I still don't feel like I have a good enough handle on what these tools are, what they can do, or what would be the best fit for my school.
